Dr. Magliocca teaches in the Department of Geography in the College of Arts and Sciences.
GY 102: Introduction to Earth Surface Processes. This class aims to help students develop their knowledge of the natural environment by examining the physical and chemical processes operating on the Earth’s surface, which form landforms and landscapes that provide habitat for humans, other animals, and plants, and understand the ways that humans alter and use the natural landscape.
GY 202: The Water Planet. This course is about water on earth, and the content will integrate scientific elements from the disciplines of atmospheric science, geography, geology, hydrology, oceanography, and water resources. The course is organized based on the large-scale elements of the hydrologic cycle and the smaller-scale elements of the water balance concept, especially as they affect water resources.
GY 570: Land Change Science. This course explores the interactions between land use, land cover, and social and environmental processes at multiple scales. The emphasis is on understanding how the natural landscape influences human activities, how humans modify the natural landscape to meet our needs, and how those modifications create a co-evolution between landscapes and human use.
